Privacy Policy

The short version

OurSlate keeps the information it needs to split costs with your group, and nothing more. There are no ads, no tracking and no data sold or shared with advertisers.

Who we are

OurSlate is made by an independent developer in the United Kingdom (the seller shown on its App Store page), who is responsible for your data. Contact: morgan@redwren.ai.

What we collect

  • Your Apple sign-in identifier. Sign in with Apple gives us an identifier for your account. We don't use passwords.
  • A display name. Only your first name as Apple shares it when you sign up, or whatever name you choose to type in instead, and its initials. People in your groups see it.
  • What you add to groups. Group names, members, expenses (description, amount, currency, exchange rate, who paid and how it was split) and payments you record. Everyone in that group can see them.
  • A small amount of usage information. For example, a record when a deleted account tries to sign in again. We use it for support and to understand how the app is used.

We don't collect or store your email address or your full name. We never ask Apple for your email, and if Apple shares your surname we discard it. We also don't collect your contacts, location, photos, bank or card details, or any payment information. OurSlate records who owes whom; it never moves money.

How we use it

Only to run the app: to show your groups, balances and history to you and the people you share them with, to keep everyone's devices in sync, and to give support. We don't use your data for advertising or tracking, and we don't build profiles of you.

Where it's stored

Your account and group data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, which hosts it on Amazon Web Services. A copy is also kept on your device so the app works offline.

If you use the contact form on this website, your name, email address and message are sent to us by email through FormSubmit. We use them only to reply to you.

To suggest exchange rates, the app asks Frankfurter for the European Central Bank's published rates. That request contains only currency codes, never anything about you or your expenses.

Who can see your data

The members of each group you're in, and the service providers above, which process it on our behalf. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app at any time: tap the group name at the top, then Settings → Delete account. Your name is removed straight away and you're signed out on every device.

Expenses and payments you shared stay in your groups, so everyone else's balances remain correct, but they show you as "Deleted user". If you'd also like a group's data removed, ask its creator to delete the group, or email us.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how it's used. Email morgan@redwren.ai and we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

OurSlate isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
